What Is a Camping Swag?

A camping swag is a portable sleeping unit used for outdoor adventure. It’s popular with campers and 4WDers. It is a traditional form of shelter used by Australian bushmen and outback travellers.

The word "swag" originated in the 1800s and was used to describe a bedroll carried by swagmen – Workers who travelled on foot from farm to farm for work. They would carry all their belongings and a basic shelter, which they called their "swag."
