The DARCHE Detachable Roof Top Tent is the next generation of soft shell rooftop tent design, built for campers and overlanders who want the comfort of an elevated sleep setup without being tied to their vehicle at camp. The standout feature is simple but genuinely game-changing: the tent body detaches completely from the baseboard, so you can leave your campsite fully set up and drive your vehicle elsewhere to explore, resupply or work, then return to a ready-made camp. No packing down, no setting up again.

Detachable Tent Body

The tent body separates from the aluminium honeycomb baseboard quickly and easily, allowing the tent to be used in three configurations: mounted on the vehicle as a conventional roof top tent, set up on a DARCHE camping stretcher elevated off the ground at camp, or placed directly on the ground when no other option is available. When the tent is removed, the baseboard and transit cover double as usable rooftop storage, so no space is wasted on the vehicle either.

Lightweight Fabric for Better Driving Dynamics

The tent body is built from 140gsm 200D ripstop polyester oxford with a blackout coating, and the fly from 140gsm ripstop polyester oxford, both rated to 2000mm waterhead. The lightweight fabric keeps the packed weight of the tent body to just 13kg, which improves driving dynamics and makes setup and packdown significantly easier than heavier canvas alternatives. The baseboard, ladder and transit cover together weigh 41kg, with the heavy-duty double-layer 600D PVC transit cover featuring foam inserts for protection on the road.

Innovative Window Awning Stays

Automatic window awning stays hold the windows open during setup and packdown, removing the fiddly step of propping windows manually. Combined with the lightweight fabric and a straightforward pole structure using 25mm aluminium frames, the Detachable RTT is one of the faster soft shell roof top tents to get into and out of at camp.

Oversized Sky Window with Blackout Coating

An oversized sky window runs through both the tent body and the fly, giving you clear views of the night sky from your sleeping position. The blackout coating on the tent body blocks out early morning light, so you sleep in when the campsite comes to life around you. A built-in LED strip provides interior lighting after dark, and two floor mats add comfort underfoot inside the tent.

50mm High-Density Foam Mattress

A 50mm high-density foam mattress is included as standard, providing a comfortable sleep surface whether the tent is mounted on the vehicle, on a stretcher or on the ground. The aluminium honeycomb base provides a rigid and flat platform in all three configurations.
